Y1-15: Weeks 25 & 26, eclipse fail, coursework and Easter break start!

Hey, so these past two weeks have basically been the build-up to the Easter break, so they are anything but interesting because my aim was to get as much work done as I could before going back home, what means library and working and reading. Oh yeah.
On Monday in Week 25 I got up early to buy tickets for the Summer Ball. They had technical difficulties so it took me ages to get my hands on them… But I eventually did and after that I went happily back to bed because I didn’t have class until after lunch. I didn’t sleep that much though, because it was already quite late, so I got up and worked out, took a shower, did some shopping and then, while I had lunch, watched Misfits. I had class all afternoon and that night I watched “Into the Woods”. I don’t particularly like musicals, but I enjoyed the film because it mixed different story tales and there were really funny moments from time to time.
On Tuesday I was feeling a bit down. It was a pretty normal day, with class and all that. I also had an in-class assessment for French, having to write a résumé. I’m not sure how that will turn out, but I will find out after Easter.
On Wednesday I had planned on getting up early to work-out, which didn’t happen. I was pretty tired so I figured sleeping would do me better at that point. After lunch, I watched “La Bataille d’Alger” for class, which was soooo long and not that great. And then I made the mistake of going back to my room instead of the library, which meant that I basically wasted the whole afternoon doing nothing productive. After dinner though, I did go to the library with Amélie and found David there too and I got most of my reading done.
Thursday was so busy. I had class from nine to five, with only two hours of break in between, one for lunch and the other one for coffee. I also went to find my subject librarian but she was nowhere to be found, so it was a bit of a waste of time. After volley I Skyped my parents and told them about some Gargnano del Garda bursaries to study in Italy over the Summer (which I applied for but didn’t get in case you wonder), did some work and went to bed.
On Friday was the solar eclipse. I really wanted to sleep but since it only happens once in a blue moon, I thought it would be worth getting up. But nope. It was so extremely cloudy – how strange, right?- there was nothing to be seen and, although I waited to try and catch a glimpse of it myself, there was nothing to be done. I ended up just watching the live version of it from the Faroe Islands on YouTube. It was amazing to see the total eclipse because the screen actually went pitch dark in the middle of the day! In person it must’ve been amazing! After class I ran some errands and got my Departmental hoodie, which I have been digging lately… And although the sun came out later and I was feeling really lazy, I forced myself to do some work. In the night, I went out to XL with Vidushi, Begoña and Amélie. It was a good night. I’d never been there before but I think it was decent because it was quite a big club. I didn’t like the music that much though…
On Saturday I obviously slept in, then cleaned my room and took a shower before lunch. After lunch I chilled for a bit and voted for the Society and Sports clubs elections and then got to work. I wrote my letter and CV for the bursaries, the latter which panicked me for a moment because it seemed like a puzzle to me. I swear I had no idea of what I had to write… But I got it done. Then I watched the Misfits while I was having dinner, and after working a bit more I watched half of “A Clockwork Orange” (for class again) before going to bed.
On Sunday I had a pretty chilled day. I slept in, finished the film, printed some stuff and lazied around. I also dyed my hair in the evening, once I realised I was not in the mood to do actual work. After dinner I went to the library and did do some planning of my essay, but I ended up putting off the writing step…
On Monday Week26 morning I was tired because from watching Misfits the night before (what else?). I had a good seminar on “La Peste” which I found quite interesting and then in the afternoon I had my last Italian Cultural Studies lectures. In the evening, as always, I shifted between watching Misfits and doing work.  I eventually finished the couple of episodes I had left, which was to be expected. The series is good until the third season, I’m about to start the fourth but it isn’t very promising…
Tuesday was slightly more interesting. I had class, which included the worst and most boring and inefficient lecture ever, this time about Postmodernism… And then after lunch we had our Peer Mentoring Training Session. I have volunteered as mentor for next year, which means I will be helping out about five freshers. The session was alright, I learnt a couple of new things about the University and I can’t wait for next year to find out who my mentees will be and how this will turn out. I’m a keen bean. In the evening, I went to get dinner with Amélie and then we went to the cinema with her to watch “Insurgent”. I enjoyed the film. I haven’t read the books but I did like the film. I found a lot of similarities with other books/films I am familiar with, but the film was good nonetheless.
On Wednesday I slept in and downloaded some much needed new music for my iPod. I spent the afternoon writing the first draft of my Italian essay, and actually managed to get it finished before the break, so that was one less thing to do over the holidays. The night was pretty chill and it happens that my former classmates and I decided to make a whatsapp group that night to arrange a meet-up during the break. And everybody knows what happens when you have more than five people in a group… BOOM! 8237647376 messages in half an hour! It was fun to talk with everyone again though, so I didn’t mind. They made me smile.
Thursday was the usual busy day, although my training got cancelled because barely anyone showed up. Many people had deadlines or had to pack because they were leaving the following day. So instead I did some work and organised my weekend to get all I wanted to do done before I left on Tuesday.
Friday was chill. I had class and then went to have lunch with A before she left. Then I spent the afternoon doing my Italian assignment and passing my notes in order to take them with me for the holidays. I had dinner with Begoña, who was leaving the following day, and that night I went out. It was madness. Half of Brendon had already left so we were a pretty eclectic group: Kemza, Vidushi, Jenny, David who got too wasted,… By the time we got to Klass, it was only half full so it didn’t promise to be a great night, but eventually it got full and the music was good. We had a lot of fun together, which came as a surprise to me. And later in the night we ended up dancing with Soham, Mo, Harry and the rest of the Brendon crew that hadn’t gone home yet. I really enjoyed myself.
On Saturday I slept in. Obviously, after going to sleep at like, half three…  The rest of Brendon left on Saturday so this place has been dead since. Dead. There may be about only four living souls left on my floor. It gives me the creeps. Anyway, I cleaned my room, got lunch, took a shower and went into town to do some shopping. I don’t know how, but every time I decide to go shopping it rains. I also changed the background of my blog (as you can very well see) and then had dinner with V. We chilled in the social and watched The Voice for a while, and then I went back to my room. I watched “Effie Gray”, which was an ok film which made me want to visit the Highlands so badly.
On Sunday I got up late, and the time change for daylight savings messed me up really bad so that didn’t help. I tidied up my wardrobe and filmed and took some pics of Brendon court. I am planning on doing a post all about the accommodation for future students’ reference, so that will come up sometime at the end of the academic year. I did the laundry, which took longer than I expected, and got some food while I did it to have lunch with V. I packed my suitcase in the afternoon and kept on trying to get my stuff done. I basically finished everything, but quite late in the night, which wasn’t that good.
Today is the last day I am in this dead and empty and creepy campus before I finally go back home where the sun is. I spent the morning finishing my work and sending some enquiries for storage over the summer. After lunch I went into town to get some stuff I needed before leaving. The bus route is diverged because they are working on the road to Uni. I just hope my taxi tomorrow arrives on time. Now I will post this lovely and boring blog post (soz) and just chill. Everything is finally done and all I have to do now is rest, cook dinner and take a shower before going to bed. Tomorrow I will have to get up really early so I will try and go to bed at a decent time today. Wish me luck.
Can’t wait to be back home at last.

PS: I genuinely feel sorry for this post, it basically feels like I am just listing my days...
